Thinking Outside The Box: The Fair

As marketers we are challenged sometimes in coming up with creative ways to make money.  Well last night at our county fair, while intoxicated brilliance struck me.

You see we were walking about the ‘expo’ hall, it’s where businesses buy up table space to sell you shit.  Now a local wireless internet supplier, whos service is fucking terrible BTW, I know that the fair is worth at least $50k in new subscriptions, and we aren’t exactly a big county.  How do I know?  I have talked and partied with the owner.

That got me thinking, how much money could I make?  I figure a good chunk of change.  Even better the amount of niches you can target are enormous.  Here’s what I was thinking…  wait why would I tell you this?  It’s pretty simple, I know that 99% of all you reading this will never attempt it.

Anyways, I would be thinking that targeting something like weight loss products would crush it out the park.  There are many diet products out there, from green tea, wu yi tea, acai berry, fucking whatever you want.  Hell marketing ALL of them is even better, make yourself look like a weight loss guru.  Now it would help if you found one being white labeled and run close to the network so that it would be easy for you and your AM to make you a custom landing page, cut a deal, and whatnot. hint: Advailiant and Aquasis are some good examples.  If you need the hookup let me know.

Next see if you can get a box full of these weight loss products to take to the fair.  You will also need at least one laptop with internet connection.  Set up your booth and have handouts.

Right now it’s pretty popular to push these products with a low shipping fee and then smack them on the reoccurring charge.  You can work out some kind of deal with your AM or whomever to have your own LP where no shipping charges are incurred but people are hit with a reoccurring charge, and you get paid on each free trial brought in.  Just like when people normally order them on the interwebz.

The best part really is that you can give the product out for free, or a very nominal charge like no more than $5 so that you can get their CC info easier, and have them sign up using your laptop and on their marry way they go.  Just to cover your ass make sure to tell them that this is a free trial for XX amount of days.

I was also thinking you could totally do a whole Blockbuster, NetFlix, and Gamefly type booth.  But really the possibilities are endless.

The only bad part is having to sit in a booth for a whole day, everyday for a few days.  You might want to pay someone a few bones an hour plus incentive or something to help you out.

Now, go make monies$$!

This isn’t anything new. Think about the credit card companies pitching their tents on school campuses.

They pay some dumb bitch interns 5 bucks an hour to get people to sign up for credit cards on paper. Each sets of those papers is worth atleast 50 bucks. Ching Ching $$

I love Offline/Online integration ideas. Only problem is half the reason I am in this industry is to work in my pajamas from home, or a cafe when its nice out.

    Keep up the good work.
